ABDAL QADIR'S CRIME IN MANCHESTER AND STOCKPORT: SHOCKING RAPE CASE

A disturbing incident unfolded involving Abdul Qadir, a 21-year-old man whose actions have left a lasting impact on a woman he met through a social media dating platform. The events took place in the Greater Manchester area, specifically involving locations in Manchester and Stockport, highlighting the dangers of online interactions that can escalate into criminal acts.

According to court proceedings, Qadir arranged to meet the woman after exchanging contact details and chatting extensively on WhatsApp. The woman, whose identity remains protected for legal reasons, informed her friends and family about her plans before she took a taxi to his flat in Stockport. The meeting initially appeared to be a casual encounter, with the pair engaging in conversation and sharing a kiss on the sofa.

However, the situation took a sinister turn when Qadir sprayed her with his aftershave, telling her, "I want you to smell like me." The woman described his behavior as 'weird,' but the situation continued to escalate. Qadir then led her to his bedroom, where he engaged in inappropriate and intimate touching. The woman expressed that he was rushing and that the encounter was becoming overwhelming, describing his actions as 'too much.'

Despite her protests, Qadir forcibly removed her leggings and underwear, leading to a sexual assault. After the attack, he made a disturbing comment, saying, "You said no, I should have listened." The woman, distressed and shaken, managed to go to the bathroom and confided in her family about what had happened. She also recorded Qadir on her phone, capturing his admission that he had raped her and his subsequent apology. Following the assault, Qadir sent her messages asking if she was okay.

Qadir was arrested later that same day. During police interviews, he admitted to the crime, explaining that he had 'gotten carried away' after meeting the woman online. He stated, "I met the girl on social media, I asked her to take her leggings off, she said 'no', I had sex with her... I got carried away."

In a heartfelt statement, the woman described the lasting trauma caused by the incident. She revealed that she constantly replays the events in her mind, struggles with sleep, and has experienced difficulties with eating and trusting strangers. She emphasized the personal violation she endured, stating, "Something so private and personal was taken from me and I will never get it back. What happened to me will always be with me - it feels like a physical scar."

During the trial, the prosecution highlighted that Qadir had pleaded guilty to the charge of rape, which was seen as a sign of remorse. His defense attorney, Daniel Calder, acknowledged his client's lack of previous convictions and described his guilty plea as an act of courage. Calder also provided background information, noting that Qadir came to the UK from Iraq at the age of 16, entered the care system, and had his asylum application rejected. He was preparing to re-appeal before being remanded into custody.

Judge Angela Nield addressed Qadir directly, emphasizing the vulnerability of the victim and her clear refusal to engage in sexual activity. She pointed out that Qadir understood her refusals but continued his assault, and he subsequently apologized to her. The judge sentenced Qadir to three years and two months in prison, ordered him to register as a sex offender for life, and prohibited him from contacting the victim. Additionally, the case will be referred to the Home Secretary for consideration of deportation, given his immigration status and criminal behavior in the UK.
