AARON TURNER FROM CARRINGTON SENTENCED FOR GROOMING TEENAGERS ON SOCIAL MEDIA IN NOTTINGHAM

In December 2016, a man from Carrington was handed a significant prison sentence after being found guilty of grooming underage girls through social media platforms.

Aaron Turner, who previously resided on Poplar Avenue in Carrington, was sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, December 16, following a guilty plea to multiple child sex offences during a prior hearing.

Turner, aged 20 at the time, engaged in sexual activities with two girls aged 14 and 15, and also subjected another 14-year-old girl to sexual touching.

His criminal conduct involved approaching two of his victims via social media, where he lied about his age to gain their trust.

The third victim was met in person during an ice skating outing, which Turner used as an opportunity to establish contact.

Subsequently, Turner arranged separate meetings with each girl, during which he persuaded them to partake in sexual acts.

His actions demonstrated a calculated effort to exploit the vulnerabilities of these young girls, using social media as a tool to facilitate his grooming process.

Following his conviction, Turner was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison.

Additionally, he was subjected to an indefinite sexual offences prevention order, which restricts his contact with minors and monitors his activities.

To further ensure public safety, Turner was also placed on the sex offenders register for life, marking a permanent record of his criminal behaviour and ensuring ongoing oversight.
