KENT CHILD SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR 13 YEARS AFTER DISTURBING ABUSE CASE
A child sex offender named Aaron Stevens, aged 27 and formerly residing on Newbridge Avenue, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after being convicted of 15 serious offences related to the sexual abuse of a young victim.
The crimes came to light in May 2018 when police received reports that Stevens had been publicly boasting about his actions online.
He was arrested at his home on May 27, 2018, and after an extensive investigation by specialized Kent Police detectives, he was charged with multiple offences, including sexual assault of a child, causing a child to engage in sexual activity, attempting to communicate sexually with a child, possession and distribution of indecent images of children, and indecent exposure.
Despite denying all charges, a unanimous jury convicted him of these crimes.
Stevens was sentenced on July 8, 2025, and will additionally serve four years on licence upon his release.
He is also required to register as a sex offender for life and must comply with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Detective Sergeant Fleur Hardie commented that the actions of Stevens are "appalling" and emphasized that the measures such as the SHPO will help prevent future crimes.
She praised the courage of the young victim and witnesses involved, reaffirming the police's commitment to prosecuting dangerous sexual offenders.
