AARON SLOAN'S SHOCKING CRIME IN BELFAST NIGHTCLUB TOILETS

Aaron Sloan, a 27-year-old former bar worker, has been the subject of a recent criminal case that has garnered significant attention. Sloan, who was residing at Eagle House on Eagle Wharf Road in London at the time, was sentenced to 18 months of probation following a serious incident that took place in Belfast. The incident occurred on Christmas night in 2020 at the popular nightclub Love & Death, located on Belfast's Ann Street.

According to court reports, Sloan approached a woman inside the nightclub under the guise of offering assistance in locating her lost mobile phone. Once he gained her trust, he led her into a toilet cubicle at the venue, which was nearing closing time. Once inside, Sloan locked the door and proceeded to sexually assault the woman. The assault was witnessed by others when the victim was eventually found by a friend who had returned to the nightclub after noticing her absence. The friend’s discovery brought the incident to light, prompting police involvement and subsequent legal proceedings.

Sloan was brought before Craigavon Magistrates' Court via a video link from London. During the proceedings, he initially denied the charges but was convicted earlier in the year. The court heard the details of the assault, which left the victim deeply traumatized. In sentencing, the judge ordered Sloan to register as a sex offender for a period of five years. The judge also noted the uncertainty regarding whether Sloan would serve his probation in Northern Ireland or return to England, where he was originally based.

In his defense, Sloan’s solicitor explained that his client was unable to afford a flight back to London as he was awaiting his paycheck from his employer in the cyber-security sector. Sloan expressed remorse for his actions, with his legal representative describing him as living 'in his own personal hell' and wishing he could undo what happened.

The victim, who has chosen to speak publicly about her experience, expressed a sense of relief now that the case has concluded. She described her ordeal as 'absolutely terrifying' and shared that she continues to suffer from emotional distress, including flashbacks and paranoia. Her trust and sense of safety have been significantly affected by the incident. The case included court photographs and detailed descriptions of the events and their aftermath, highlighting the profound impact on the victim’s life.
