GRINDR ATTACKER WHO USED GAY DATING APP TO LURE MEN TO RAPE AND ROB IS JAILED FOR 14 YEARS
Aaron Goodey, aged 23, was convicted on three counts of rape, two counts of robbery, and one count of blackmail. His arrest took place in July 2020, following an investigation into two separate incidents involving men who were sexually assaulted by a man they had met on Grindr in the Enfield area of London, as presented in Wood Green Crown Court on Friday.
During these incidents, the perpetrator also took the victims to a cashpoint and forced them to withdraw money at gunpoint or threat of violence.
Further investigations connected Goodey to a third offence in which a man was assaulted and coerced into cash withdrawal after meeting a man for consensual sex in Lambeth in January 2020.
Forensic analysis of evidence from the first assault victim enabled authorities to identify Goodey as a potential suspect.
CCTV footage and phone data further tied him to all three events.
Following his arrest, Goodey was questioned about the incidents and denied involvement.
Nevertheless, the Crown Prosecution Service proceeded with charges based on scientific evidence and digital records collected during the investigation.
Goodey, who resides on Tramway Avenue in Enfield, received his sentence on Friday, 17 September 2021.
