SHEFFIELD MAN AARON CASEY JAILED FOR TERRIFYING STALKING AND HARASSMENT CAMPAIGN
A woman was so overwhelmed by her stalker’s threats and invasive behavior that she stayed awake all night monitoring her CCTV footage. The stalker, Aaron Casey, aged 30, had posted a nude image of her on Snapchat and told her, "I'm going to ruin you, watch," as part of his troubling harassment campaign.
Sheffield Crown Court was told that despite her attempts to warn Casey, who lives on Brightmore Drive in Sheffield, and to sever communication, he exploited her emotionally by claiming he heard voices in his head.
Prosecutor Rosemary Kavanagh described a day when she received 261 calls from a hidden number, and each time she answered, Casey demanded access to her security camera footage.
He also sent her a picture showing his arm with ketchup, implying self-harm, which she blocked.
Yet, Casey went further by posting her picture on Snapchat; upon discovering this, she unblocked him to ask what he was doing.
He responded with threats, vowing, "I'm going to ruin you, watch." His actions grew more aggressive as he visited her home, damaged her Ring doorbell, and left a pair of headphones there.
Over the following days, Casey issued numerous threats, entered her property by climbing into her dog’s kennel, sent upsetting videos, and damaged her car’s windscreen.
He even attempted to stab her with a Stanley blade but accidentally cut his own leg.
The woman recounted feeling unsafe in her own house, fearing he might break in and inflict harm.
Casey has a lengthy criminal history with 20 offenses including robbery, assault, harassment, actual bodily harm, and possession of an imitation firearm.
He pleaded guilty to charges including disclosing or threatening to disclose a sexual image and stalking that caused her to fear violence.
The court handed down a 64-month extended sentence, consisting of 32 months in prison followed by 32 months on extended license.
She described her persistent fear and the profound impact the ongoing harassment has had on her sleep and sense of security.
