DOMESTIC ABUSER GETS FIVE-YEAR SENTENCE FOR ATTACK ON WOMAN
Caines, who is currently held in custody on remand, received a prison sentence on Monday of five years and eight months for six offenses connected to an assault on a woman in Worcester in 2022.In addition to the prison term, restraining orders were issued to safeguard his two victims.
During the incident, he assaulted his victim, stabbed her in the hand, and caused damage to her property, including smashing a television, damaging her phone, and creating a hole in the ceiling of her residence in Worcester.
Caines also attacked the victim’s friend, who attempted to intervene, and after being bailed, he contacted the victim via messages and calls, attempting to persuade her to drop the charges.
In 2023, he was re-arrested for harassment while on remand, and despite his incarceration, he continued to try to contact the victim.
Detective Inspector James Bamber, from South Worcestershire’s Protecting Vulnerable People team, commented: “We are pleased Caines received this prison sentence which keeps him behind bars and reflects the cowardly and violent nature of the attack on his victim.
“West Mercia Police will not tolerate domestic abuse of any kind and we will actively seek to protect vulnerable people across our force area.
