Two individuals have been convicted and sentenced for physically mistreating a young child on the Isle of Wight.
Toby Lucas, aged 29, and Courtney Strong, aged 25, appeared before Portsmouth Crown Court on Friday, 2 May, to receive their sentences.
Authorities discovered video footage that documented the abuse, which included instances of the child, who was under 10 years old, being restrained with tape and subjected to physical harm by Lucas.
Strong was present during the incident, which occurred the previous year, but failed to take any action to stop it.
Following the incident, police initiated an investigation conducted by the Isle of Wight Child Abuse Investigation Team (CAIT).
Both Lucas and Strong faced charges of assault, ill-treatment, or neglect of a child, with the potential to cause unnecessary suffering or injury.
During court proceedings, both defendants admitted to the charges.
Lucas, who resides on Home Meade in Newport, received a 10-year extended prison term.
Strong, of Medeway in Sandown, was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
