SHOCKING CRIME IN COVENTRY: ZOAEIR TAMARI AND LALA GUL UTKHEL TRAFFICK AND ASSAULT TEENAGERS
In a disturbing series of events that have shocked the Coventry community, Zoaeir Tamari, also known as Lala Gul Utkhel, has been linked to multiple heinous crimes involving the abduction, trafficking, and sexual assault of young girls.The incidents span over several years, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior that has left many residents deeply concerned about safety and justice.
Back in July 2017, Tamari, then 20 years old and believed to be originally from Syria, was already serving time in prison after being convicted of raping a teenage girl.
His criminal activities did not end there.
The court heard that Tamari had previously lured a 17-year-old girl to his flat located on Lady Lane, Longford, Coventry, in August 2014.
There, he offered her alcohol, which he used to manipulate her, before physically assaulting her with slaps and punches, and ultimately raping her.
During the same incident, he also assaulted her 15-year-old friend.
The judge at Warwick Crown Court described Tamari as a danger to teenage girls, sentencing him to a total of 12 years and nine months behind bars, followed by several years on license.
The court also ordered him to register as a sex offender for life.
Despite his incarceration, Tamari's criminal conduct continued.
In August of the previous year, he was involved in the trafficking of two young girls, aged 13 and 14, as they were walking to a friend's house in Coventry.
The girls accepted a lift from Tamari in a blue Jaguar XJ8, which police later identified as the vehicle used in the crime.
During the journey, the girls were given alcohol and cigarettes, and taken to a flat above a pub in Lockhurst Lane, Foleshill.
There, Tamari sexually assaulted both girls after further intoxication.
The victims managed to raise the alarm after being driven back to the city centre, prompting police investigations.
Tamari was found guilty of the rape involving the 17-year-old girl and was sentenced to a combined term of 12 years and nine months.
His accomplice, Lala Gul Utkhel, aged 27, was also convicted and sentenced to four-and-a-half years for human trafficking for the purpose of child sexual exploitation (CSE).
Utkhel's involvement was linked to the transportation and facilitation of the trafficking operation, which targeted vulnerable young girls.
Police investigations revealed that Walikhan Sultan-Khal, aged 25 and known as Sultan, was the driver of the vehicle used in the trafficking.
He is currently wanted by authorities for allegedly raping the 13-year-old girl in a flat above a pub.
Sultan is believed to have driven the victims around Coventry after picking them up in the early hours, before taking them to the flat where the assaults occurred.
The victims' bravery in raising the alarm has been commended by law enforcement, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance in combating such crimes.
West Midlands Police, through their public protection unit, expressed their concern over the impact of these crimes on the victims and the community.
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Green stated, “What happened to these young girls could have a devastating impact on them for some time to come.” The ongoing investigation into Sultan's whereabouts continues, as authorities seek to bring him to justice and prevent further harm to vulnerable individuals in Coventry.
