ZIA KHAN FROM ATTENBOROUGH ESCAPES JAIL AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULTS AT HOTEL SPA IN ATTENBOROUGH

Zia Khan, a 48-year-old man from Attenborough, has been found guilty of sexually assaulting three individuals at a hotel spa but astonishingly received only a suspended sentence, allowing him to walk free from court. The incident took place at the Village Hotel, where Khan targeted two women and a teenage girl during their leisure activities in the hotel’s jacuzzi and swimming pool facilities.

These disturbing events occurred over the months of April and May 2023. During this period, Khan engaged in inappropriate physical contact with his victims while they were using the hotel amenities. Prosecutor Anthony Cheung provided detailed accounts of the incidents, describing how Khan sat beside a teenage girl in the jacuzzi and then proceeded to touch her inappropriately. Initially, the girl thought the contact was accidental, but when it happened again, she felt compelled to seek help from her friend. Khan’s reaction to the situation was described as dismissive and arrogant, as he exited the jacuzzi with an attitude that suggested he was unrepentant.

The second incident involved another woman, who was entering the water when Khan inappropriately touched her as well. The third assault occurred when Khan submerged himself in the pool and again made inappropriate contact with a victim, causing her to move away in discomfort. Once the victims reported these incidents, authorities swiftly arrested Khan two days later.

During the trial, Khan denied the allegations, claiming that the victims had fabricated their stories. His attitude throughout the proceedings was described as arrogant, which did not sit well with the court. Judge Michael Auty KC emphasized the seriousness of the offenses, highlighting the profound psychological harm inflicted on the victims. In his remarks, the judge stated, “No man worthy of the name ever sexually assaults a woman, end of. It is despicable behavior which was degrading and humiliating for them.”

Despite the gravity of his actions, Khan was sentenced to a 12-month prison term, but this sentence was suspended for two years. Additionally, he was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid community work. The court also mandated that he pay compensation to the victims—£1,000 each to two of them and £750 to the third. Furthermore, Khan is now banned from the Village Hotel complex for ten years and is required to remain on the sex offenders register for the same period, marking a significant restriction on his future activities.
