YULYAN DIMOV CAUGHT AT GATWICK TRYING TO FLEE LONDON AFTER SEXUAL ASSAULTS
A man accused of sexually assaulting multiple women within their own homes was apprehended by police as he attempted to board a flight at Gatwick Airport.The individual, Yulyan Dimov, aged 45 and residing in Enfield, was a professional masseur.
On Thursday, May 2, he was found guilty at Wood Green Crown Court of committing a total of 20 separate offences, which included sexual assault and voyeurism.
The investigation into Dimov’s activities began in November 2022 when a woman reported that she had been sexually assaulted during a massage at her residence.
This initial report prompted law enforcement officers to reach out to other women who had scheduled appointments with him, revealing a disturbing pattern of misconduct.
Further complicating the case, a woman who had previously reported him in 2021 but had later withdrawn her support for the investigation, reconnected with authorities after discovering that she was not his only victim.
Despite Dimov’s vehement denial of all allegations, police uncovered significant evidence during their investigation.
A review of his mobile phone revealed over 30 photographs of different women, all taken without their consent while he was providing home massage services.
Following this discovery, police contacted all women who had been clients of Dimov, leading to additional victims coming forward with their accounts.
The case took a critical turn on June 15 of the previous year when Dimov was arrested at Gatwick Airport while attempting to leave the country on a one-way flight back to Bulgaria, his country of origin.
Throughout the proceedings, Dimov maintained that the images found on his phone were intended solely for professional purposes, a claim that was not supported by the evidence.
The court convicted him on multiple counts, including six of voyeurism, two of attempted voyeurism, nine of sexual assault, and three counts of sexual assault involving ten different victims.
His sentencing is scheduled for Friday, June 28, at Wood Green Crown Court.
Detective Constable Abigail Butler, who led the investigation, expressed her thoughts on the case: “Dimov preyed on women who trusted him and were in vulnerable situations when he assaulted them.
The diligent efforts of our officers to build this case are only overshadowed by the bravery of the women who came forward.
