A significant crackdown on a criminal network involved in the sexual exploitation of trafficked women across numerous locations in the United Kingdom has culminated in the sentencing of three individuals responsible for orchestrating these heinous activities.

Yuan Hang, Lina Wang, and Chung Fu Wang played pivotal roles in running a widespread operation that targeted vulnerable women, many of whom were brought into the country illegally and coerced into sex work under duress.

These illicit activities spanned over 50 different sites throughout the UK, including towns such as Canterbury, Chatham, Dartford, Gillingham, Maidstone, and Tunbridge Wells.

The victims were often forced into dangerous and unsafe sexual practices, with some women not even aware of their exact whereabouts or the extent of their exploitation.

Many were compelled to work to pay off family debts, while others faced threats and coercion that left them with little choice but to comply.

The criminal operation also caused considerable disturbance within local communities.

Residents reported frequent disturbances, including loud noise, acts of criminal damage, and persistent visits to the brothels at all hours of the day and night, disrupting the peace and safety of the neighborhoods.

The authorities uncovered this extensive trafficking ring in 2019, following investigations that led to the discovery of two brothels located in Gillingham and Maidstone.

Mobile phone data analysis played a crucial role in linking these locations and exposing the network’s reach.

The police action intensified when Lina Wang was apprehended in August 2021 in Cambridgeshire.

She was found attempting to conceal six mobile phones and was in possession of approximately £430,000 in bank statements, indicating significant financial gains from the illicit activities.

On the same day, Chung Fu Wang was arrested in London, where officers recovered mobile phones and bank cards belonging to sex workers involved in the operation.

Earlier, Yuan Hang was detained in London following a warrant execution.

Investigations revealed that Hang was a heavy gambler who drove luxury cars and frequented high-end retail outlets despite having minimal legitimate income, raising suspicions about the source of his wealth.

The case was brought before Maidstone Crown Court, where the three offenders were sentenced on April 1, 2025.

The presiding judge condemned their lack of remorse and highlighted their greed-driven motives, emphasizing that their actions exploited vulnerable women for personal financial gain.

Lina Wang was sentenced to five years and eight months in prison, Chung Fu Wang received three years and nine months, and Yuan Hang was also sentenced to five years and eight months.

Detective Constable Dameon Shaw, who led the investigation, stressed the seriousness of the criminal enterprise and urged the public to remain vigilant.

He encouraged anyone with information about similar activities to come forward, emphasizing that community cooperation is vital in protecting victims and dismantling such exploitative networks.
