FIFE WOMAN EXTORTS CASH FROM LOVER BY THREATENING TO EXPOSE AFFAIR
Yasmine Joual, 25, from Mackie Place in Dunfermline, was involved in extorting cash from a man by threatening to disclose their affair, which included sexually explicit messages and photos exchanged.
The court heard that over a period from March to October last year, Joual demanded money from her victim, threatening to inform his partner about their affair unless he paid her.
Despite paying an initial £100 after Joual's threat, she continued to demand more money, asserting she would reveal everything.
Joual also has a criminal history that includes trying to smuggle tobacco and SIM cards into Perth Prison for her partner, Sean Noble, and possession of a knife she claimed was part of a Halloween costume.
She pleaded guilty to extortion in court and was sentenced to two alternative penalties: 100 hours of unpaid work on the tobacco smuggling offence and a deferred sentence for the knife possession and extortion charges, contingent on good behaviour.
The court communicated that continued offending or failure to comply with the unpaid work order could result in a custodial sentence.
Additionally, Joual was found to have attempted to bring prohibited items into Perth Prison on August 28, 2023, and was given a community payback order for possessing a knife outside a property in Ballingry on October 29, 2023.
Her crimes also include breaches of previous community orders, which were revoked and replaced with new community payback orders.
The judge emphasized that ongoing offending would lead to imprisonment if she fails to adhere to her current sanctions, highlighting her vulnerable background as part of her mitigation.
