WILLIAM WOOD IRVINE SEX OFFENDER JAILED FOR CHILD IMAGE OFFENSES AND ONLINE DECEPTION
In May 2016, William Wood, a 47-year-old resident of Irvine, was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of possessing indecent images of children and engaging in deceptive online activities.The charges stemmed from his possession of such images between October 26 and December 3 at his residence in Lugton Court, a well-known area within Irvine.
Wood, who is a registered sex offender, was also found to have failed to comply with legal obligations to notify authorities about his online activities.
Specifically, he did not inform the police within the required three-day window that he had been using the alias ‘Cassandra Stevens’ on the internet.
This false identity was used by Wood from October 1, 2014, through December 3, 2015, a period during which he engaged in online activities that warranted reporting under the law.
Furthermore, Wood admitted to another charge of neglecting to update police with his personal details between October 1 and October 22 of the previous year.
These omissions and his online deception were brought to light during proceedings at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court last week.
During the court appearance, Wood, who was appearing from custody, pleaded guilty to all three charges.
His guilty plea was accepted, and the court sentenced him to a total of 18 months in prison.
The sentence was backdated to January 20, the date when he was initially remanded into custody, ensuring that his time served would be appropriately accounted for in his sentence.
