WILLIAM SYKES AND SHOCKING SEXUAL CHAT SCANDAL IN OXFORD

A serious criminal case has highlighted the disturbing issue of unsolicited explicit images being sent to young women, as a judge condemned the actions of William Sykes, a 54-year-old man residing in Oxford.

The court heard how Sykes engaged in highly inappropriate online communication with what he believed to be underage girls, engaging in vile sexual conversations and sending explicit images.

During the proceedings, the judge, Recorder Samantha Presland, expressed her outrage at the moral depravity exhibited.

Sykes was caught sending a message of 'hi sexy' to one of the decoy social media accounts, which was purportedly operated by a 12-year-old girl.

Additionally, he sent a graphic image of his genitalia to another decoy, who claimed to be 14 years old, in late 2020.

The judge was visibly disgusted by these acts and made a pointed remark questioning whether the widespread use of camera-equipped mobile phones might be considered a curse, sarcastically noting that such unsolicited images are what women supposedly do not want to see.

Recorder Presland further observed that the situation was fortunate in a grim sense, as the 'girls' on the receiving end were actually adult members of paedophile hunter groups, namely The Ghosts and Elite Solo Decoys, who operate undercover to trap predators.

She emphasized that such material not only damages young women’s self-esteem but also dehumanizes them, reducing individuals to objects for sexual gratification.

In her sentencing, the judge underscored the gravity of Sykes’s crimes.

She explicitly stated, 'It’s a very, very serious offence, Mr Sykes.

I cannot understate that.' Prosecutor Matthew Knight outlined the trajectory of Sykes’s exchanges, revealing that he initially met the older 'girl' on a web application before moving the conversation to WhatsApp.

There, the conversations involved what appeared to be sexual content, culminating in Sykes sending the explicit photograph of himself.

The police investigation uncovered that Sykes described the girl as 'very pretty' and exhibited awareness that his actions might land him in trouble due to the explicit nature of his messages—yet he continued.

The 'girls' he interacted with were indeed adult operatives working for the paedophile hunter groups, a fact confirmed during a live-streamed confrontation where Sykes appeared with limited understanding amidst his difficulties communicating, attributed to long-term alcohol dependence and learning difficulties.

Sykes was arrested following these exchanges and, in his appearance before magistrates in March, admitted to two counts of attempted sexual communication with a child.

During sentencing mitigation, Bethan Chichester revealed that Sykes had been heavily intoxicated, consuming up to 24 cans of strong alcohol daily at the time of his offending.

Since then, he has managed to reduce his intake to about five or six cans per day.

The court handed down a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, alongside a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.

Sykes, of Blackbird Leys Road in Oxford, is also required to register as a sex offender for the next decade, representing a comprehensive legal response to his alarming behavior.
