WILLIAM MOUSDELL SENTENCED IN CRAWLEY FOR CHILD INDECENCY IMAGES
William Mousdell, a 49-year-old resident of Crawley, has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison after authorities uncovered a disturbing collection of indecent images of children stored on his devices. The arrest took place at his home on Beeches Crescent in Crawley on December 14, 2022, following a police investigation that linked his address to the uploading of such illicit material to the internet.
During the search, law enforcement officers seized multiple electronic devices from Mousdell’s residence.
A forensic examination revealed that these devices contained thousands of indecent images of children, including hundreds classified as the most serious Category A images, which encompass both moving and still photographs.
The severity of the content underscores the disturbing nature of the material found.
Further investigation uncovered that some of the images were non-sexual photographs of children known personally to Mousdell.
These images had been manipulated through editing to falsely depict sexual and violent acts, adding a layer of malicious intent to his actions.
The evidence was substantial enough to lead to formal charges.
William Mousdell faced multiple counts related to the possession and creation of indecent images of children.
He was subsequently convicted on three counts of making or possessing such images.
The case was heard at Lewes Crown Court, where on March 28, 2024, he was sentenced to 31 months in prison.
In addition to his incarceration, Mousdell was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, mandated to register as a sex offender, and was issued multiple Restraining Orders to prevent any contact with potential victims or related parties.
His sentencing highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of child exploitation material, and serves as a stark reminder of the serious consequences faced by those involved in such crimes.
