DOMESTIC ABUSER WILLIAM MORTON SENT TO PRISON FOR NINE MONTHS AFTER HORRIFIC VIDEO EVIDENCE
A harrowing video footage captured the horrific abuse inflicted by William Morton, a man who physically assaulted his partner, Jodie Tague, a 30-year-old woman from Barry Island. In the recorded clip, Jodie can be heard crying out for mercy: "get off me, get off me," as Morton spits at her and menacingly threatens, "I'll f*****g hit you in the f*****g head, I'll f*****g bury you, is that what you want?" He further ominously states, "I'll f*****g cut your throat and I'll f*****g cut your head off and I'll put you in our f*****g garage." This 36-minute recording became critical evidence that led to police securing a conviction against Morton.
He was subsequently sentenced to nine months in jail and was issued an indefinite restraining order.
The case highlighted the severe domestic abuse Morton inflicted, with additional incidents revealing that he chased Jodie with a knife and repeatedly dropped her on the ground during her pregnancy.
Jodie, who owns a gift shop, met Morton via Tinder in March of the previous year, but soon recognized his controlling behavior, which worsened over time.
Her courage to confide in healthcare professionals allowed her to seek police help, and she advised other victims to preserve evidence of abuse and report to authorities.
Despite her ordeal, Jodie successfully gave birth to a healthy baby and expressed gratitude to the police for their support.
The story underscores the ongoing issues with domestic violence cases being dismissed, as recent reports reveal that police drop nearly 500 cases monthly due to victims withdrawing evidence.
