PERVERT TEACHER WILLIAM HOPKINS OF PORT TALBOT JAILED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE
In June 2000, William Hopkins, a 45-year-old teacher from Port Talbot, was sentenced to three years in prison for engaging in sexual assaults on boys.
Hopkins, who taught at St Joseph's Junior School in Port Talbot, falsely claimed to be a cancer expert to gain access to boys at his home, where he conducted unauthorized examinations.
He also told 14-year-old boys that he could help cure their teenage spots through massage of their private parts.
Hopkins pleaded guilty to six counts of indecent assault on three boys, none of whom attended his school.
Prosecutor Jim Davis told Swansea Crown Court that Hopkins showered the victims with gifts, including a guitar, mobile phone, clothes, and concert tickets, spending over £1,000 on one of them.

Davis noted that one victim was severely affected by the assaults, experiencing confusion, anger, and health concerns.
Judge John Diehl described Hopkins as "a sexual abuser" and ordered him to register as a sex offender for the remainder of his life.
