WILLIAM CIMADORO FROM NEWTOWN JAILED FOR POSSESSING 22,000 CHILD SEX IMAGES IN MOLD
In a case that has shocked the local community of Newtown, William Cimadoro, aged 33, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after being found guilty of possessing a vast collection of child abuse images. The court heard that Cimadoro’s illicit collection included nearly 22,000 indecent images of children, with 45 of these classified as the most severe category, indicating the worst form of abuse. The sentencing took place at Mold Crown Court, where Judge Rhys Rowlands emphasized the gravity of the offences. In addition to his prison term, Cimadoro is required to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years. Furthermore, a sexual harm prevention order was issued against him, also lasting ten years, to restrict his future activities and protect the community.
Prosecutor Karl Scholz detailed that Cimadoro had a prior history involving violent and threatening behavior, which added to the seriousness of his current offences. The case was brought to light after police executed a search warrant at Cimadoro’s residence in May. During the search, officers discovered a laptop computer, which was subsequently examined and revealed the extensive collection of illegal images.
Defense attorney Philip Clemo acknowledged Cimadoro’s guilty plea, which likely influenced the court’s decision. Judge Rhys Rowlands stated that only a custodial sentence was appropriate given the nature of the crimes, describing them as both serious and disturbing. The case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the distribution and possession of child exploitation material, and it serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking online.
