WILLIAM BROWN FROM NUNEATON SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF MINOR AT COVENTRY CROWN COURT
William Brown, a resident of Nuneaton, was handed a three-year prison sentence in 2015 after being convicted of engaging in sexual activities with a minor under the age of 16.The conviction was secured at Coventry Crown Court, where the court heard the disturbing details of his abuse.
Brown, who was 55 years old at the time, targeted his young next-door neighbor, a girl who was only 13 when the abuse began.
Over a period of two years, he employed manipulative and coercive tactics to repeatedly assault the girl sexually.
His approach involved grooming her by making her feel special and loved, often convincing her that her feelings for him were mutual and that she was in love with him.
The abuse escalated gradually.
The two would go on long walks together, during which Brown would hold her hand in secret.
As their relationship progressed, he kissed her, and eventually, he engaged in sexual intercourse with her while she was just 14 years old.
This pattern of abuse was not a one-time event but occurred on multiple occasions, totaling at least four instances.
The situation reached a critical point in August 2013, shortly after the girl’s 16th birthday, when a chilling photograph was taken, capturing the moment of abuse.
It was at this point that her mother discovered the disturbing evidence and promptly contacted the police, leading to Brown’s arrest.
In September of the previous year, Brown was taken into custody, and last month, he was sentenced at Coventry Crown Court.
He admitted to four counts of sexual activity with a minor under 16, which resulted in his three-year imprisonment.
The victim, now 18 years old, has chosen to waive her right to anonymity to speak openly about her traumatic experience.
She revealed that she had fallen deeply in love with Brown, describing how their relationship started with innocent gestures like holding hands while walking dogs.
She recounted that Brown would kiss her on the cheek and later on the lips, gradually progressing to sexual acts.
She admitted that she knew it was wrong because Brown was married, but her feelings for him clouded her judgment.
She expressed her heartbreak at the realization of the betrayal, stating, “I really liked him and when I was 14, we had sex for the first time in a field.
I knew it was wrong because he was married, but I didn’t care.
He was so funny and mature, I fell completely in love with him.” Eventually, she understood the gravity of the situation and decided to report everything to the police.
Her account concluded with a poignant reflection: “It broke my heart because I felt like I was betraying Will.
But I didn’t want our family to be torn apart anymore.”
