May 2012 singing tutor’s CHILD-SEX SHAME ONE of Northern Ireland’s best known singing tutors has been jailed for 10 years for child sex offences. Shamed music man Aubrey McClintock was also formerly a senior member of staff at Armagh City Council. He has coached generations of young singers but McClintock’s world fell apart in 2007 when he was convicted of child abuse images offences. And last week the celebrated teacher and composer was convicted of child sex offences dating back to the 1980s when he appeared at Lewes Crown Court in Sussex. The 53-year-old pervert, whose address was listed as Greenfield Park in Armagh, had previously pleaded not guilty to six counts of indecently assaulting a female child and one count of inciting a child to commit an act of gross indecency. But a jury found McClintock guilty on all counts. The offences took place in the Sussex area between December 18, 1983 and December 16, 1989. It was the second time that the voice coach had been outed as a child sex pervert. In September 2007, McClintock received a 12 month suspended sentence at Newry Crown Court for accessing indecent images of children. He admitted 16 charges after US law enforcement agencies contacted the PSNI. They discovered McClintock had used his credit card to access websites which had indecent images of children in February 2005. Following this conviction, he was placed on the sex offenders register. McClintock was banned from having internet access at his home and also had to inform the parents of potential pupils of his conviction. The pervert was suspended from his role as a community regeneration officer with Armagh Council after they became aware of the police investigation into his conduct. He was dismissed from the council in June 2007 following an internal investigation. A source close to the singing community in Armagh said McClintock had continued to take singing lessons with young girls and boys even after his 2007 conviction. The music tutor was also said to have raised eyebrows after becoming engaged to an 18-year-old when he was in his 30s. Describing the tutor as “arrogant”, the source added that McClintockhad largely continued with his life as normal after his porn conviction, and while he never denied downloading the images, he told members of the local music scene that he hadn’t realised they were of underage children. Before his disturbing child porn habit was discovered, McClintock had been involved with many high profile events in Armagh including the famous Charles Wood Summer School, held for singers, organists and choir directors. McClintock also made a number of well received recordings. The high flyer also sat on several committees as a council representative, including the St Patrick’s Day Festival and Armagh Church Forum. Despite the fact he’s now in jail, advertisements publicising McClintock’s tutoring services remain online. In one such advert, he describes himself as a teacher with over 25 years of experience and says he welcomes students of all ages — including young children. September 2007 Singing tutor admits child abuse images One of Northern Ireland’s best known singing tutors has been given a 12 month suspended sentence for accessing indecent images of children. Aubrey William McClintock, 49, of Greenfield Park, Armagh, admitted 16 charges after US law enforcement agencies contacted the PSNI. In addition he will not be allowed to have access to the internet in his home and he will have to inform the parents of potential pupils of his conviction. Armagh council said it suspended Aubrey McClintock as soon as it became aware of the police investigation into his conduct. “Neither Mr McClintock, nor any of the relevant statutory agencies, made us aware of the case pending against him,” said a spokesman. “We were informed of the charges against Mr McClintock through informal channels and after confirming the charges, we suspended him within 24 hours. “The council progressed this case in accordance with all our procedures and Mr McClintock was dismissed from the council in June 2007 following an internal investigation.”
