WILLIAM AITKEN FROM FIFE SENTENCED FOR PREDATORY CHILD ABUSE
In a case that has shocked the community in Fife, William Aitken, aged 42, was formally sentenced in November 2015 after being found guilty of heinous crimes involving the abuse of two young girls. The victims, aged 13 and 14, endured a prolonged period of exploitation that spanned over two years, during which Aitken engaged in calculated and predatory behavior that deeply traumatized the minors.
Initially, Aitken faced a much harsher sentence of 16 years in April of the same year.
However, following an appeal, his sentence was significantly reduced to four years in prison.
The reduction was granted due to delays in the legal process and concerns that the original sentence was disproportionately severe given the circumstances.
The court did not shy away from condemning Aitken’s conduct, describing it as calculated and predatory, highlighting the grave danger posed by such behavior, especially when directed towards vulnerable children.
The judge emphasized the severity of crimes committed against minors and underscored the importance of protecting children from exploitation and abuse.
As part of the sentencing, the court also ordered William Aitken to register as a sex offender for life, a measure intended to monitor and prevent any future offenses.
The case has drawn significant attention in Fife, serving as a stark reminder of the ongoing need for vigilance and protective measures for children in the community.
