WILLIAM ABRAHAMS SENTENCED IN ROTHERHAM FOR HISTORIC SEX OFFENCES
In February 2019, William Abrahams was sentenced to 20 years in prison after being convicted of multiple historic sexual offences against young girls.
The 71-year-old, originally from Kirkcaldy, Scotland, was found guilty of six counts of indecency with a child, three counts of rape, and five counts of sexual assault.
The three victims, all under the age of 13 at the time of the offences, were targeted in the Swinton area of Rotherham between the early 1980s and 2016.
Abrahams was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court following a two-week trial, during which a judge described him as a “monstrous man” who had committed “the worst betrayal of trust one can think of.” The investigation into his actions was initiated in 2016 after one victim disclosed the abuse to a schools officer, who then alerted police.
