WAYNE LEWIS FROM LEICESTER SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT AND HARASSMENT
In March 2021, a disturbing case emerged involving Wayne Lewis, a man with a troubling criminal history, who committed a series of invasive and threatening acts against a woman in Leicester. The victim, whose privacy was severely violated, reported that Lewis bombarded her with an overwhelming number of messages and calls, and even went as far as filming inside her home through a window.
Wayne Lewis, aged 48 and residing on Perth Avenue in the New Parks area of Leicester, was already a registered sex offender with prior convictions for attempted rape and sexual assault.
Despite his criminal record, Lewis continued to engage in predatory behavior, which culminated in a series of alarming incidents that drew the attention of law enforcement.
The initial assault by Lewis prompted the victim to contact police, leading to his arrest and questioning.
He was subsequently released on bail while authorities continued their investigation.
However, even after being released, Lewis demonstrated a blatant disregard for the law and the safety of the woman.
He returned to her residence and used a tablet computer to film through a window, an act that further violated her privacy and added to the severity of his misconduct.
Over a span of just six days, Lewis sent the victim an astonishing 100 text messages and made more than 30 phone calls within a two-day period.
These persistent communications caused significant distress and fear.
Approximately a month later, during another two-week period, he intensified his harassment by making at least 200 additional calls and persistently messaging her on social media platforms.
These actions were reported to the police, who took the matter seriously.
When questioned about his recent behavior, Lewis denied all allegations, attempting to dismiss or minimize his actions.
Nevertheless, investigators analyzed his phone and gathered other evidence, which ultimately led to his guilty plea on charges of sexual assault and controlling or coercive behavior.
His pattern of harassment and invasive filming demonstrated a clear pattern of controlling conduct and abuse.
Lewis appeared before Leicester Crown Court for sentencing, where his extensive criminal history and the severity of his recent offenses were taken into account.
The court sentenced him to an extended prison term, ensuring he will serve a minimum of five years and two months behind bars.
Following his release, he will remain on licence for an additional four years and ten months, under strict supervision to prevent further harm.
This case highlights the ongoing issues of sexual violence and harassment in Leicester, emphasizing the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to protect victims and hold offenders accountable.
