SUPPORTER OF TOMMY ROBINSON JAILED FOR DRUG AND THREATENING COMMENTS ABOUT SAJID JAVID

A supporter of Tommy Robinson and a convicted rapist has been sentenced to 28 days in prison for posting threatening and abusive comments about home secretary Sajid Javid on Facebook.

Wayne Kirby, 49, was handed this sentence after leaving remarks on Mr Javid’s Facebook page during the summer of 2018.

Kirby called for the Tory politician to be “hung, drawn and quartered” if anything happened to the far-right activist Tommy Robinson, and also branded Mr Javid “a Muslim terrorist”.

He concluded his post by stating that Mr Javid should “legally get ready to die boy”.

Kirby served six years after being convicted of rape in 2007, according to Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

Authorities from London's Metropolitan Police traced the post back to Kirby through his phone and Facebook profile after the home secretary’s office reported the threat.

Additionally, Kirby was found guilty of possessing cannabis, which breached his conditional discharge from a previous class B drug offence.

The sentencing magistrate, Emma Arbuthnot, explained that the term ‘boy’ was intended to humiliate Mr Javid and noted the racial and religious undertones of the remarks.

The judge emphasized the seriousness of such threats, highlighting the potential for harm, especially since some individuals act on such threats.

Kirby, who stated he was about to start a new job cleaning wheelie bins, was fined £250 for drug possession and ordered to pay £150 in court costs.

Detective Inspector Phil Grindell from Scotland Yard’s parliamentary liaison team commented that the police take reports of harassment and threats against MPs very seriously and will investigate thoroughly to ensure justice.
