WAYNE DAYKIN SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES IN ESSEX
A man identified as Wayne Daykin has been sentenced to prison following a series of serious sexual offenses committed in Essex.The 26-year-old resident of Queens Road, Southend, was brought before Basildon Crown Court where he received a three-year prison term after admitting to multiple charges related to assaults and predatory behavior.
The court heard that the offenses occurred in April 2019 within south Essex, involving a girl under the age of 13, whom Daykin forcibly undressed and exposed her on two separate occasions.
Despite her quick efforts to re-dress herself each time, these incidents left her visibly shaken and emotionally distressed.
The severity of these particular acts underscores the grave nature of the crimes committed.
In addition to these assaults, Daykin engaged in a disturbing attempt to manipulate a teenage boy.
Court records detailed that he would isolate the boy and persistently try to persuade him to engage in sexual activities.
He asked the boy if he could touch him sexually and urged him to expose himself.
Although the teenage victim refused these advances, Daykin did not desist; instead, he continued to repeat his demands and further communicated through messages on Instagram, where he continued to push his inappropriate requests.
The teenage boy, feeling frightened and overwhelmed, ultimately confided in his family and alerted law enforcement authorities about these interactions, highlighting the serious danger posed by Daykin’s actions.
During the sentencing on Friday, Judge Andrew Hurst addressed the defendant directly, emphasizing the gravity of his misconduct.
He stated, "These children were at an extremely impressionable age.
You preyed upon them sexually, there is no other word for it.
It was for your gratification." The sentencing also included a mandatory sex offender notification requirement that will remain in place indefinitely, ensuring continued monitoring of Daykin’s activities.
Defense lawyer Mike Warren expressed remorse on behalf of Daykin, asserting that his client recognized the hurt caused and was regretful for his conduct.
Despite these remarks, the judge’s decision reflects the serious harm inflicted and the need for community protection through strict sentencing.
