Guernsey Child Sexual Abuser
In May 2014, a man from Guernsey was sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of multiple sexual offenses, including assaulting an eight-year-old girl in 1999.

Wayne Brouard, aged 42 and from St Martin's, denied the charge related to the 1999 assault but admitted to taking indecent photographs of an 11-year-old girl in 2011.

The Royal Court of Guernsey ordered Brouard to serve eight years behind bars, with an additional five-year extension on his sentence.

The conviction followed a police search of Brouard’s residence in 2013, which was conducted on unrelated matters. During the search, law enforcement officials discovered 31 indecent images stored on a mobile phone’s memory card.

At his trial in February, Brouard pleaded not guilty to charges of indecent assault and gross indecency but admitted to taking the indecent images.

Judge Russel Finch commented that it was "extremely concerning" that Brouard made a vulnerable witness relive traumatic events from over 15 years prior.

A psychologist’s report described Brouard as having an "extremely high re-offending risk" and emphasized the need for serious intervention and strict conditions upon his release.
