WARREN MIDGLEY KIDDERMINSTER SEX OFFENDER SENTENCED TO 3 YEARS FOR ABUSE AGAINST YOUNG GIRLS
In June 2013, a man from Kidderminster was handed a significant prison sentence after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offences involving young girls.Warren Midgley, aged 43 and residing on Maple Close in Kidderminster, appeared before Worcester Crown Court where he was sentenced to three years behind bars.
This sentencing followed his admission to committing a total of 14 separate offences, which included four counts of indecent assault, eight counts of engaging in sexual activity with a child, one count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and one count of causing a child to view an image depicting sexual activity.
Midgley's crimes did not end with his immediate offences.
As part of his sentence, he was also ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely, a measure that underscores the severity of his actions.
Additionally, he was placed under a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for a period of three years, restricting his activities and contact with minors.
Detective Sergeant Andy Spencer of West Mercia Police provided a statement emphasizing the gravity of Midgley's actions.
He described Midgley as a sexual predator who targeted vulnerable young girls, many of whom were known to him.
The detective highlighted that the victims endured prolonged periods of assault over several years, and the court's sentence reflected the seriousness of these offences.
Furthermore, evidence revealed that Midgley was involved in grooming behaviour, attempting to establish contact with other girls through social networking sites.
He reportedly used flattery and other manipulative tactics in an effort to arrange meetings with potential victims, raising concerns about ongoing predatory behaviour.
It was nearly two years after Midgley's initial arrest that he finally pleaded guilty to the charges.
Detective Spencer noted that this plea avoided the victims having to endure the trauma of giving evidence in court, which was seen as a small mercy given the circumstances.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals like Midgley and the importance of vigilant safeguarding of vulnerable children.
