HARTLEPOOL GRANDAD WALLACE JUKE'S SHAMEFUL SEX CHAT WITH 'SCHOOLGIRL' REVEALED
In April 2019, a disturbing case emerged involving a 70-year-old man from Hartlepool who engaged in inappropriate and sexually explicit communications with someone he believed to be a teenage girl.The incident has cast a shadow over the community, highlighting issues of online safety and the dangers of grooming.
Wallace Jukes, a resident of Oakland Avenue in Hartlepool, found himself in court after he was caught attempting to initiate a sexual encounter through social media.
He was accused of attempting to communicate with a minor under false pretenses, believing he was speaking to a 15-year-old girl.
The case was heard at Teesside Crown Court, where Jukes pleaded guilty to the charge of attempted sexual communication with a child.
Over a span of five days, Jukes engaged in a series of messages with an individual who had created a fake social media profile.
The account was set up under the alias 'Rach' and featured a picture of a teenager, further misleading Jukes into believing he was communicating with a young girl.
During these exchanges, Jukes repeatedly demanded explicit photographs, including requests for naked images, which he pressed for with increasing insistence.
Prosecutor Harry Hadfield detailed the extent of Jukes' online activity, revealing that the man, who had previously worked in local industry until his retirement at age 50 and had served as a charity volunteer for 11 years, suggested meeting the girl at various locations around Hartlepool.
In one of his messages, he simply wrote, “Pics, pics, pics,” indicating his eagerness to receive explicit images.
The court heard that Jukes' behavior was persistent, but ultimately, he decided not to follow through with the planned meeting.
Despite his initial intentions, he ceased contact before any physical meeting could occur.
Judge Howard Crowson addressed Jukes directly, stating, “At times, your language was relatively pressing in your attempts to get your way.
Ultimately, you stopped and you didn’t go to the rendezvous.
By that stage, you had decided to stop what was for you outrageous behaviour.” As part of his sentence, Jukes was handed a two-year community order and was required to participate in a sex offender treatment programme.
Additionally, he was placed on the sex offenders’ register for five years and ordered to pay costs amounting to £635.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing issues surrounding online grooming and the importance of vigilance in protecting minors from exploitation.
