DEPRAVED RAPIST VLADIMIR GIRGA JAILED AFTER FLEEING UK
A suspect involved in a sexual assault in the Midlands who later fled the UK has been given a prison sentence.
Vladimir Girga, who was described as depraved in court reports, committed the attack in Staffordshire in 2015.
Following charges, Girga, aged 27, did not attend magistrates court in March 2017 and instead escaped abroad.
The assault occurred in October 2015 in Stoke-on-Trent.
His apprehension came after he was extradited from Slovakia, where he had been found following a European Arrest Warrant.
He was brought back to the UK in December and subsequently sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court to six years and eight months in prison.
Girga pleaded guilty to the charge of rape and was ordered to remain on the sex offenders’ register for life.
The court ordered that he serve his sentence for the sexual offence he committed in Staffordshire.
