VINCENT GRIEVE AND SHOCKING RAPE IN BLACKBURN, LANCASHIRE
Vincent Grieve, a man from Blackburn, Lancashire, was sentenced to a lengthy prison term of eight years after committing a violent and profoundly disturbing crime against a woman, which included rape and severe physical assault. The incident came to light during a hearing at Preston Crown Court, where details emerged about a harrowing attack that took place inside a residence in Blackburn.
The victim, whose identity is protected by legal restrictions, was subjected to a series of brutal acts inflicted by Grieve, who was described as a violent thug responsible for causing significant trauma.
According to prosecutor Charles Brown, the assault began when Grieve, who had been drinking rum that day, restrained the woman and subjected her to sexual violence.
Following the assault, she managed to escape the house wearing only socks, after a harrowing struggle that left her scarred physically and emotionally.
Earlier attempts by the woman to leave the premises were thwarted when Grieve, in a fit of rage, struck her from behind as she tried to reach the front door.
The court was told that Grieve’s violence escalated further when he compelled her to lie on the floor and then proceeded to strangle her.
During this assault, he hurled abusive language at her, punched her repeatedly in the face, and stamped on her torso, causing serious injuries.
In addition to the physical violence, Grieve threatened her life with a knife, threatening to kill her, and made explicit threats involving cutting off her head with an electric saw.
He also hit her over the head with a bottle of Captain Morgan rum.
The violence continued as Grieve physically assaulted her further, whipping her twice with a belt, threatening that she would belong to him for life and serve him perpetually.
Amidst these events, he raped her again, making a disturbing comment about having never assaulted a girl with head injuries before.
The victim, who was semi-naked and visibly distressed, managed to flee the scene by running out of the house.
She sought refuge in a neighbour’s garden before ultimately moving into the street for help.
She sustained severe facial injuries and was found to be missing a portion of her hair, highlighting the brutality of the attack.
During the court hearing, the woman delivered a heartfelt victim personal statement, describing her ongoing suffering.
She shared her despair, saying, “I find myself wondering what is the point of it all, carrying this pain almost every second of every day.
The fact I still have my life where others do not should make me feel better but I’m using it as an excuse not to go to pieces.
I dream it every night and it’s so vivid.
I relive every punch, kick, and blow.
Living with this every day is suffocating.” Grieve pleaded guilty to charges of rape and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, acknowledging the seriousness of his actions.
His defense attorney, Bob Sastry, described the incident as grave and expressed remorse on behalf of his client, offering an apology to the victim.
Judge Simon Medland QC condemned Grieve’s conduct, characterizing his actions as coercive and degrading.
He stated, “You inflicted substantial damage and numerous injuries through beatings and slaps.
You treated her with utter contempt as if nothing more than a punch bag or possession of yours.” In conclusion, Justice Medland imposed a sentence of eight years in prison for Grieve’s crimes.
Furthermore, an indefinite restraining order was issued to prevent any contact between Grieve and the victim, emphasizing the court’s recognition of the ongoing threat and the need for protection.
