VICTOR WRIGHT FROM PORTSMOUTH CAUGHT WITH THOUSANDS OF CHILD IMAGES AND EXTREME PORNOGRAPHY
In a case that has shocked the Portsmouth community, Victor Wright, a 70-year-old resident of Cheltenham Road, was brought before Portsmouth Crown Court to face serious allegations related to the possession of indecent images and extreme pornography.Wright was charged with a total of 21 offenses, which included 16 counts of possessing indecent photographs of children, three counts of possessing extreme pornographic material, and one count of possessing a prohibited image of a child.
He entered a guilty plea to all charges, acknowledging his involvement in these criminal activities.
During the proceedings, Wright’s defense team highlighted his tendencies towards hoarding, which appeared to be a contributing factor to his possession of such material.
The police investigation that led to his arrest uncovered a disturbing collection stored at his Portsmouth residence.
Authorities found a staggering 4,469 indecent images of children, along with 62 moving images depicting children, and an additional 622 images showing a person engaging in lewd acts with an animal.
These findings paint a disturbing picture of the extent of Wright’s possession of illegal and exploitative content.
Following his arrest, Wright was subjected to a thorough legal process.
The court sentenced him to a three-year community order, which includes a supervision component to monitor his conduct over that period.
Additionally, he was ordered to complete 35 sessions of a specialized sex offenders’ program aimed at addressing his behavior.
To further restrict his access to harmful material, a sexual prevention order was imposed, which prohibits Wright from owning any device capable of accessing the internet.
The order also bans him from searching for child abuse images online and from deleting any web browsing history that might be evidence of such searches.
Moreover, Wright was barred from owning a dog, a measure likely intended to prevent further potential harm or neglect.
He was also placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for a period of five years, ensuring that his status as a convicted offender remains publicly recorded for that duration.
This case underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement and judicial authorities in Portsmouth to combat the possession and distribution of child exploitation material, and to protect vulnerable individuals from harm.
