A 70-year-old man from Chelveston Way in Peterborough has been sentenced to over a year in prison after assaulting his former wife and chasing her in the street as she attempted to escape.
Valerijs Hrisdoforidi attacked the victim at her home on 27 November afternoon.
During a physical altercation, he punched her, but she managed to escape downstairs and out onto the street.
Hrisdoforidi pursued her around parked cars, but she eventually returned inside her house and secured the doors.
He entered the property and, grabbing her by the hair, pulled her to the floor.
He then kicked her in the head and on her back.
Police later detained him at his residence.
His ex-wife sustained bruising to her hand, scratches on her neck, and swelling to her ankle.
She also reported a letter through her letterbox in which Hrisdoforidi claimed he had been watching and following her.
Hrisdoforidi confessed to charges of assault causing actual bodily harm, stalking, and witness intimidation.
The court at Peterborough Crown Court sentenced him to a term of one year and six months in prison.
Additionally, he was issued an indefinite restraining order preventing any contact with his ex-wife.
