TYRONE TRIGGS CAUGHT WITH CHILD ABUSE IMAGES IN SWINDON - SENTENCED IN COURT
In August 2020, Tyrone Triggs, a 39-year-old man from Swindon, faced serious legal repercussions after being found in possession of indecent images of children on his iPhones.The case drew significant attention at Swindon Crown Court, where details of his criminal conduct and subsequent sentencing were publicly disclosed.
Triggs had previously been convicted in 2018 for a violent assault in Trowbridge, where he stabbed a man in the chest.
He was sentenced to six years in prison for that offense.
However, during his incarceration, further allegations surfaced that led police to scrutinize two of his mobile devices.
It was during this analysis that authorities uncovered a disturbing collection of illegal images.
Specifically, the police found 85 indecent images of children on Triggs’ smartphones.
Among these, 54 were classified in the most severe category, indicating the worst level of abuse.
The images included children as young as two years old being subjected to sexual abuse.
Investigators also discovered that Triggs had used search terms related to illegal content, including images depicting sexual acts between family members, suggesting a deliberate and persistent interest in such material.
Triggs appeared in court via video link from Winchester prison, where he was serving time.
He pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children.
His defense lawyer, Matthew Harbinson, explained that Triggs had transitioned from an interest in hardcore pornography to viewing illegal images of children, indicating a troubling escalation in his behavior.
The court was informed that Triggs would have been released from prison had it not been for this latest case.
He had already secured accommodation for when he was eligible for release.
Despite this, the court imposed a sentence of 10 months imprisonment, suspended for two years.
Additionally, Triggs was ordered to participate in a sex offenders’ program and complete 30 days of rehabilitation.
Judge Peter Crabtree emphasized the gravity of the offense, stating, “Anyone who engages in downloading such images is fueling an abhorrent trade which causes significant physical and psychological harm to young children.” The judge also mandated that Triggs adhere to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and register as a sex offender, underscoring the serious consequences of his actions and the ongoing threat posed to the community in Swindon.
