TYRONE ALLERT SENTENCED TO 12 YEARS IN PRISON FOR KIDNAPPING AND ATTEMPTED RAPE IN NORTH LONDON

A man identified as Tyrone Allert, 37, has been sentenced to prison after kidnapping and attempting to rape a woman in a van in North London.

Police have described Allert as a 'violent predator.' The Metropolitan Police responded at approximately 11:40 a.m.

on Sunday, July 24, following reports of a man standing behind a white van on Marsh Lane, Haringey.

Witnesses reported that his jeans were pulled down and that a woman inside the van was shouting for help.

A second alert stated that the same vehicle, driven by Allert, had collided with six other vehicles on Warwick Road, N11, and had driven at a man, narrowly missing injury.

Multiple police units were dispatched, and an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) tracker was placed on the vehicle.

The victim was later found at an East London hospital, where police observed that she had sustained several injuries consistent with a beating, though fortunately they were not life-threatening.

Allert was arrested at his residence on the same day on suspicion of kidnapping and assault, and was taken into custody.

By July 26, he faced charges of attempted grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent, assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH), attempted rape, rape, kidnapping, racially aggravated harassment, assaulting an emergency worker, possessing an offensive weapon (a knife), and dangerous driving.

The court details revealed that on July 24, 2022, the female victim, aged 28, had been drinking with friends.

She was later picked up by Allert, who, noticing she was intoxicated, provided her with additional alcohol while driving around in his van.

During this time, Allert repeatedly pulled over, attempting to have sex with her and attempting to 'beat her into submission.' Following his arrest, Allert racially abused a police officer and subsequently assaulted him, causing injuries requiring hospital treatment.

The officer has since recovered fully, according to the police.

During the incident, the victim was heard to say clearly that she did not want to have sex.

However, Allert claimed that she had consented to entering the van and to having sex with him.

When authorities examined his mobile phone, they uncovered video clips in which Allert verbally abused and physically assaulted the woman.

She was distinctly heard to say she did not want sex and at one point declared, 'this is rape.' The footage also showed her attempting to escape the van, but Allert repeatedly pushed her back inside.

Allert appeared before Snaresbrook Crown Court on April 9, where he was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

This sentence is to be followed by five years on extended licence for his convictions related to false imprisonment and attempted rape.

Prior to this, Allert had pleaded guilty to several charges in a November 14, 2023, trial at the same court, including assault (ABH), racially aggravated harassment, assault on an emergency worker, possession of an offensive weapon, and dangerous driving.

Detective Constable Iain McDonald, leading the investigation, commented: 'The victim-survivor in this case has been incredibly brave.

Realising the danger she was in, she fought tirelessly to escape Tyrone Allert, who is a violent predator.' He continued: 'We are committed to protecting women and girls, working to eradicate sexual violence largely perpetrated by predatory men such as Allert, and to support those impacted by sexual assault and rape.

The effects of sexual offences can be long-lasting, but I sincerely hope that the victim can move forward with her life, leaving Allert and his despicable actions behind.'
