Bentilee Animal Abuser
Tyler Steele, born on May 27, 1996, and residing at 14 Tiverton Road in Bentilee, Stoke-on-Trent ST2 0AY, has been convicted in 2024 of heinous acts of animal cruelty involving two separate incidents of physical abuse against dogs. His actions, which have sparked widespread outrage across the country, were captured on video and circulated widely on social media, prompting investigations by both the RSPCA and local police authorities.

In July 2023, a disturbing video emerged showing Steele violently assaulting a female XL Bully dog named Bo. The footage was recorded by a doorbell camera in the Hanley area of Stoke-on-Trent. In the clip, Steele is seen dragging Bo along the pavement and repeatedly striking her on the head, causing her to yelp in pain. The video also captures Steele walking along a street on a Hanley housing estate, where Bo appears to sit down and refuse to move. Steele then yanks her leash, pulls her toward him, and delivers several blows to her head, muttering, “Don’t want it no more. He [sic] can fuck off.”

Another video, believed to have been filmed in the Berry Hill area in May 2023, shows Steele forcefully throwing a French bulldog from a moving car, causing the dog to skid across the road. The whereabouts of this second dog remain unknown, but the footage caused significant public outrage and led to official investigations.

Following the circulation of these videos, Steele appeared at the door from which the footage was taken, leaving a message on its doorbell camera. In his message, he dismissively stated, “I don’t give a fuck about the video. I’ve told everyone it was me. I don’t give two flying fucks. I’ll treat my dog how I want to treat it.”

During the court proceedings at the North Staffordshire Justice Centre in November 2023, Steele pleaded guilty to two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to animals. Prosecutor Claire McGowen pointed out that, although there were no veterinary reports confirming injuries, the distress inflicted on the animals was evident from the videos. She emphasized that Steele’s repeated use of force caused significant suffering to a very young dog.

Defense attorney Colin Drew explained that Steele was under the influence of cocaine at the time of the offenses but has since become drug-free. Drew acknowledged Steele’s poor criminal record but highlighted his recent efforts to turn his life around, including overcoming drug addiction and receiving support from his partner.

In June 2024, during the sentencing hearing, prosecutors detailed the severity of Steele’s actions. They described how he pulled and punched Bo, swearing at her, with the dog’s yelping and crying clearly audible in the footage. The second incident involved Steele forcefully throwing a dog across the road, which could have caused the animal substantial pain and discomfort, according to the prosecution.

RSPCA Inspector Ann Bennett, who viewed the videos, expressed her distress, stating, “A puppy was caused unnecessary suffering by a person responsible for him or her.”

In addition to the animal cruelty charges, Steele admitted to aggravated vehicle taking, having allowed himself to be carried in a vehicle on June 17, 2023.

He was sentenced to 18 weeks in jail, with a £154 surcharge, a 12-month driving ban, and a disqualification from keeping animals for five years, which will expire in June 2029.
