TYLER LAVERICK FROM WALLSEND SENTENCED AFTER HORRIFIC DOG ABUSE IN NORTH SHIELDS

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Tyler Charles Laverick, a resident of Wallsend, was found guilty of inflicting severe injuries on a defenseless dog named Diesel.

The incident took place in North Shields, where witnesses reported seeing the animal being assaulted by a male individual, later identified as Laverick.

Authorities responded promptly after receiving multiple reports from concerned members of the public.

Police officers visited Laverick’s former residence in North Shields and discovered Diesel inside the property.

The dog was found suffering from extensive injuries to his face, eyes, and ears, which indicated a brutal attack.

The injuries were so severe that Diesel’s nose was partially severed, and his face bore numerous scars and puncture wounds.

During questioning, Laverick admitted to the police that he had been biting Diesel while under the influence of cannabis, stating, “I was biting him, I was stoned.” This admission came after the police observed the dog’s horrific injuries, which included puncture wounds to his tongue, significant trauma to his nose with bleeding and skin loss, swelling on the left side of his jaw, and bleeding in the whites of his eyes.

The dog’s ears also showed scratches and puncture wounds, with bleeding evident.

Additionally, Diesel had a small wound on his left foreleg, which was also scarred from previous trauma, although the cause of these older injuries remains unknown.

At an earlier hearing, Laverick was convicted in his absence of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

However, this conviction was later overturned to allow him to present a proper defense.

Initially, he denied the charge but changed his plea to guilty on the day of the trial.

His legal representatives argued that Laverick was experiencing significant mental health difficulties, which they claimed affected his understanding of his actions and his intent.

In sentencing, Laverick received an 11-week prison sentence, which was suspended for 18 months.

He was also ordered to pay costs amounting to £750.

Furthermore, he was banned from owning or keeping any animals for a period of 10 years, a ban that will remain in effect until July 2028.

This case has once again highlighted the importance of animal welfare and the need for strict penalties against those who commit such heinous acts against defenseless creatures.
