RAPIST WHO HELD GIRL CAPTIVE IN HIS HOME JAILED FOR 10 YEARS
A man responsible for holding a teenage girl against her will at his home and assaulting her with horrifying violence has been jailed.
Tyler Brown was arrested after his victim was found on the street only dressed in her underwear back in February.
He was convicted at Durham Crown Court of charges including rape, wounding, and causing actual bodily harm.
The 20-year-old, who lives on Poplar Road in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, received a sentence of 10 years in prison.
The court was told that Brown kept the girl locked inside his residence and took her mobile phone to prevent her from contacting anyone.
He attacked her with knives, stabbing and slashing her hands and feet, and shattered a glass food processor into her face.
Using tights and hair ties, she had to improvise as makeshift bandages for her injuries.
Steve Gothard said: "Tyler Brown is a violent man who subjected his victim to horrifying abuse over a prolonged period of time - abuse which caused immense physical, emotional and mental harm to a young woman.
"He will now have 10 years in prison to reflect on the damage he has done." As well as the prison sentence, the judge ordered Brown to sign the sex offender's register and handed him to an indefinite restraining order.
