TREVER SMITH CAUGHT IN ST LEONARDS WITH HUNDREDS OF CHILD INDECENT IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of St Leonards, Trevor Smith, a 64-year-old resident of St Saviours Road, has admitted to possessing and creating a vast collection of indecent images of children. The allegations against Smith include the production of hundreds of such images, some classified as the most severe category, which has raised serious concerns about child exploitation and online safety.According to court documents, Trevor Smith pleaded guilty to multiple charges related to the creation and possession of these illicit images. Specifically, he admitted to making 12 Category A indecent images of children, which are considered the most serious due to their explicit and harmful content. In addition, he pleaded guilty to producing 22 Category B images and a staggering 404 Category C images, all of which depict children in various states of exploitation and abuse.
The offences are alleged to have taken place within the boundaries of St Leonards, spanning from January 1, 2017, to June 1, 2018. During this period, Smith's activities involved the creation and distribution of these illegal images, highlighting a prolonged period of offending that has now come to light.
Furthermore, Smith also admitted to possessing a total of 1,357 prohibited images of children, which underscores the extent of his involvement in this criminal activity. The possession of such a large quantity of illicit material indicates a significant breach of the law and a serious threat to the safety and well-being of children depicted in these images.
Following his guilty pleas, Trevor Smith was remanded to Lewes Crown Court for sentencing. As part of the legal proceedings, he was released on bail under strict conditions designed to prevent further offences. Among these conditions was a prohibition on possessing any computer or electronic device capable of accessing the internet, aiming to prevent him from continuing his illegal activities while awaiting sentencing.
