Hastings Sexual Abuser
In a significant case that has shocked the community of Hastings, Trevor Platt, a 44-year-old local businessman residing on Sheerwater Crescent, has been convicted on multiple counts of sexual offences involving a teenage girl. The conviction follows a detailed two-week trial held at Hove Crown Court, where the evidence against Platt was thoroughly examined and ultimately led to his sentencing.

Platt was arrested in March 2013 after authorities received a disturbing report concerning a girl under the age of 18, who was known to him personally. The allegations detailed a series of abusive acts committed over a span of several years, from 2006 to 2013. The charges brought against him included five counts of sexual touching, seven counts of rape, and a single count related to the production of child abuse imagery involving a minor.

Following the trial, the court found Trevor Platt guilty on all counts. The judge sentenced him to a substantial term of 18 years in prison, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the impact on the victim. The case has garnered considerable attention within the Hastings community, highlighting the importance of vigilance and support for victims of sexual abuse.

Detective Constable Darren Jones, who has been involved in the investigation, expressed his support for the victim and emphasized the importance of speaking out. He stated, “We have been supporting the victim since she bravely spoke out about the abuse she suffered by Platt. Platt has been found guilty of these offences and will spend a considerable time in prison.”

He also issued a plea to the public, encouraging anyone who has experienced similar abuse to come forward. “We urge anyone to come forward and speak to us about sexual abuse. We will take you seriously and do everything we can to support you and investigate. Please contact us on 101 or email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk,” he added, reaffirming the police’s commitment to protecting victims and pursuing justice.
