NORWICH MAN ACCUSED OF RAPING AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTING YOUNG GIRL

A Norwich man is to stand trial accused of raping and sexually assaulting a girl under 13.

Trevor New-Watts, of George Pope Close, Norwich, has been charged with two counts of rape against the girl between August 1, 2021 and December 31, 2022.

The 56-year-old has also been charged with four counts of sexual assault against the same girl - who cannot be identified for legal reasons - between the same dates, and another offence of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

He has denied all offences and appeared at Norwich Crown Court last week for a further case management hearing (FCM).

Judge Alice Robinson said his trial would take place on October 13.
