Horsham Rustington Sexual Abuser
In a case that has shocked the local communities of Horsham and Rustington, Trevor Clarke, a 56-year-old man with ties to both areas, has been sentenced to prison for a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against six teenage girls over a span of ten years.

According to court records and proceedings at Hove Crown Court, Clarke was found guilty of eight counts of indecent assault, involving girls who were only 14 years old at the time. He faced a total of nine counts during his trial last month but was acquitted of one, following the decision of Judge Anthony Scott-Gall. The judge emphasized that Clarke showed no remorse for his actions, both during the commission of the offenses and throughout the legal process.

Clarke, who previously resided in Beverley Gardens, Rustington, and owned a kennels business in Horsham, was described as having committed these acts over a decade, from 1990 to 2000. The victims, whose identities are protected by law, were subjected to repeated acts of molestation, including touching, groping, and other forms of sexual abuse. The court heard that Clarke’s conduct was both persistent and calculated, with the offenses described as “sly” and “nasty,” reflecting a pattern of predatory behavior.

During sentencing, Judge Scott-Gall condemned Clarke’s lack of remorse, stating, “He has shown no flicker of remorse for what the girls endured, both at the time of the offenses and during his trial.” The judge highlighted the severity and duration of the crimes, which spanned a full decade, and underscored the malicious nature of Clarke’s actions.

As part of his punishment, Clarke was sentenced to a total of 15 months in prison. However, the court also imposed a more comprehensive sentence of three years, during which Clarke will be required to undergo treatment under a sex offenders’ rehabilitation program. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for the next ten years, a measure intended to monitor and prevent further offenses.

At the time of his arrest and trial, Clarke was employed as the manager of a cleaning company in West Sussex, overseeing ten employees. The company has chosen not to comment publicly on his conviction. The case has left a lasting impact on the victims and the communities of Horsham and Rustington, raising ongoing concerns about safeguarding and the protection of vulnerable young people from predatory individuals.
