TRACY LYONS AND SHOCKING PAEDOPHILE ACTS IN PORTSMOUTH
A nursery volunteer with a disturbing history of paedophilia was unexpectedly exposed after a Christmas card from a controversial charity was found at her residence in Southampton.Tracy Lyons, aged 46 and originally from Portsmouth, had her secret uncovered when a neighbour visiting her home noticed the card displayed prominently.
Lyons, who was residing under a different surname at the time, was observed by the neighbour to have a Christmas greeting from a charity called Circles, a social group that supports sex offenders.
The revelation unfolded on Christmas Eve when the neighbour, curious about the card and its connection, confronted Lyons about her previous online activities.
This charity, Circles, is known for its efforts to assist offenders in rehabilitation by creating a supportive network of volunteer friends.
The neighbour’s discovery raised suspicions, especially given Lyons’s criminal past, and prompted her to contact the police immediately.
Moments after the confrontation, Lyons called law enforcement and subsequently fled her residence.
Lyons’s background is particularly grim.
In 2011, she served a nine-month prison sentence of four years after admitting her involvement in a paedophile ring.
Her crimes included filming herself abusing a two-year-old boy, which she then shared with Colin Blanchard, a key figure linked to the ring.
Lyons’s criminal activities also involved two counts of indecent assault on a child, inciting a child to engage in sexual activities, as well as distributing three separate indecent images depicting children.
At the time she volunteered at Izzies Neighbourhood Nursery in North End back in July 2008, police have confirmed no abuse occurred within the premises.
Despite her volunteer work, Lyons’s past reveals a disturbing pattern of exploitation and criminal misconduct.
Her previous residence was on Hewett Road in North End, Portsmouth.
The overarching criminal network she was involved in was led by Colin Blanchard, a man from Rochdale.
Blanchard’s criminal enterprise was notably orchestrated alongside his partner, Vanessa George, who was responsible for sending abuse images.
Blanchard received an indefinite sentence with a minimum of nine years for his role in the ring.
This disturbing case highlights the ongoing challenges of monitoring individuals with a history of sexual offenses, especially when they attempt to reintegrate into society through volunteer work or social groups designed to aid rehabilitation.
Lyons’s exposure serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and the potential dangers posed by sexual offenders, even when they are seemingly engaged in community service efforts.
