TONY WICKSTEAD SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR MONSTROUS ABUSE IN NORWICH
In a harrowing case that has shocked the community of Norwich, Tony Wickstead, aged 46, has been handed a life sentence after being convicted of a series of heinous sexual offenses committed against three young girls under the age of 13.The sentencing took place at Norwich Crown Court, where the court heard detailed accounts of the brutal abuse inflicted by Wickstead over a period spanning from 2016 to 2018.
Wickstead, a resident of Scott Road in Norwich, was found guilty on nine counts of serious sexual misconduct involving the victims.
The court revealed that his crimes included a disturbing campaign of rape against one particular girl, with Wickstead being convicted of six separate rape offenses against her.
Additionally, he was found guilty of causing or inciting her to engage in sexual activities, further emphasizing the severity of his crimes.
The court also convicted Wickstead of two other counts of rape involving two other children, all of whom were under 13 at the time of the offenses.
The evidence presented painted a picture of extreme cruelty and violence, with one victim describing her experience as so terrifying that she believed she was going to die.
During her ordeal, she was handcuffed, dragged by her hair, and subjected to physical violence, including Wickstead placing his hands around her throat and strangling her until he was finished.
The judge, Maureen Bacon, did not hold back in her condemnation of Wickstead’s actions.
She described the abuse as “monstrous” and “inhuman,” condemning not only the acts themselves but also the violence that accompanied them.
In her sentencing remarks, she stated, “It’s plain you used these children’s bodies as mere devices for you to obtain depraved sexual gratification that you sought out.” As part of the sentencing, Judge Bacon ordered Wickstead to serve a minimum of 19 years and 92 days before he becomes eligible for parole.
She emphasized the severity of his crimes, highlighting the physical harm and degradation suffered by the victims.
Wickstead’s actions led to him being classified as a dangerous offender, with a high risk of causing serious harm to children in the future.
Furthermore, Wickstead admitted to possessing an offensive weapon, a stun gun, when his home was searched in 2018.
As a result, he was also placed on the sex offenders register for life.
Prosecutor Marc Evans described the offenses as extremely serious, noting the physical injuries and emotional trauma inflicted upon the victims.
The court’s decision reflects the gravity of Wickstead’s crimes and the community’s demand for justice in this disturbing case.
