NORFOLK MAN JAILED FOR RELENTLESS STALKING EX-GIRLFRIEND
A Norfolk man has been imprisoned for stalking his former girlfriend.
Toby Wilton, aged 24, was in a relationship with the woman for two years before it ended in November 2024.
Following their breakup, a non-molestation order was issued on November 21, which barred him from contacting her.
Despite this, he attempted to reach her via email, asking if he could call her and stating he wished to avoid bad feelings between them.
He also sent messages through Facebook, indicating a desire not to argue and to move forward with his life.
Wilton persisted in breaching the court’s order in January 2025 by messaging her again and requesting to meet.
Over the following weeks, he tagged her in cryptic social media posts, sent more emails and messages demanding explanations for her silence, and declared his love while noting that she still wore a necklace he had given her.
The victim, who lives in Huntington, Cambridgeshire, chose to ignore his efforts but preserved screenshots as evidence.
Wilton appeared at Cambridge Crown Court, where he admitted to harassment that caused significant stress or harm, as well as breaching the non-molestation order on ten separate occasions.
He received a one-year prison sentence and was issued a new restraining order effective for five years.
PC Charis Sparkes of Cambridgeshire Constabulary, who led the case, said Wilton’s conduct posed a considerable risk to the victim’s well-being, and that the sentence was appropriate.
She emphasized that such behaviour would not be tolerated and committed to ensuring the enforcement of the restraining order to prevent further incidents.
