March 2019 Sex offender jailed for breaching court order A STRATFORD man has been jailed after spending nights at the home of a woman with a young daughter – without revealing he had a conviction for child sex offences. And that put Toby Rogers in breach of a sexual harm prevention order imposed when he had been jailed in 2015, a judge at Warwick Crown Court has heard. The 25-year-old, of Clopton Road, pleaded guilty to breaching the sexual harm prevention order and breaching the terms of his registration as a sex offender. Rogers, previously of The Grove, Studley, was jailed for three years by Judge Andrew Lockhart QC who also imposed a new sexual harm prevention order for ten years. Prosecutor Matthew Barnes said in March 2015 Rogers had been jailed for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in a Bromsgrove park. The judge who sentenced him on that occasion also made him subject to a sexual harm prevention order for five years. Among the requirements of the order was that he was not to spend the night at any address where a child under the age of 16 was living, and he should reveal his conviction if he formed a relationship with a mother of a child. And as part of his registration as a sex offender he had to inform police if he was staying at an address where any person under the age of 18 was living. Mr Barnes said Rogers breached those orders by forming a relationship with a woman whose children included two daughters aged four and six, with whom he had unsupervised contact. As a result of that, he was jailed for 20 months in January 2017 and, having spent some time in custody on remand, was released on licence in September that year. After moving to a hostel in Stratford in April last year, he was recalled to prison to serve a further period of his sentence after breaching his licence conditions by not informing the authorities of where he was staying. By then he had formed a new relationship with a mother-of-four who lived in the Oxfordshire, although it was only following his further release police became aware of that. Without having informed her of his status as a convicted sex offender, Rogers had spent the night at her home on around five occasions when her children, including a ten-year-old girl, were in the house. Kelly Cyples, defending, said ‘contact was minimal’ because the youngest children were already in bed. But Judge Lockhart said the seriousness was the risk of harm if Rogers had got up in the night and gone into the children’s room. The judge told Rogers: “I have to deal with you for breaching the sexual harm prevention order on five occasions when she did not know of your conviction and once when she did. These are really grave matters.” March 2015 Sex offender jailed for 21 months over string of child sexual offences A SEX pest from Warwickshire has been jailed for nearly two years after admitting a string of sex offences at Worcester Crown Court. Toby Rogers, a 21-year-old from Studley, was sentenced on Friday after he pleaded guilty to multiple sexual offences at Worcester Crown Court on January 28. Rogers, from The Grove, Studley, was sentenced to 21 months in prison. The offences happened on a range of dates throughout August and September 2013 at Stoke Prior in Bromsgrove. Following a thorough investigation by police Rogers was charged with a range of sexual offences. He pleaded guilty to three counts of assault on a female under 13 years, one count of sexual activity with a female under 16 years and one count of interference with a witness. Detective Inspector Matthew Skelton, of Protecting Vulnerable People, said: “This sentence is a result of a thorough and successful investigation by Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police and we are pleased with the result. “We hope that this indicates to the public that Warwickshire Police and West Mercia Police are committed to protecting people from harm and bringing offenders to justice.
