TIMOTHY MICKLEWRIGHT FROM WALSALL JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENSES INVOLVING 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN WOLVERHAMPTON
In a case that has shocked the local community, Timothy Micklewright, a 37-year-old man from Walsall, has been sentenced to four years in prison after engaging in a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl. The incident took place in Wolverhampton, where Micklewright took the young girl to his home on May 26 of the previous year, an act that ultimately led to his conviction.
During the court proceedings at Wolverhampton Crown Court, prosecutor Mr.
Andrew Wilkins detailed the disturbing nature of the case.
It was revealed that prior to the incident at Micklewright’s residence, there had been some form of sexual contact between the two.
The girl had sent six images of herself to Micklewright, five of which were of an intimate nature, raising concerns about the grooming process involved.
The court heard that when the girl visited Micklewright’s home and went into his bedroom, he undressed himself and then undressed her, leading to sexual activity.
The court was informed that Micklewright’s actions were consensual at the moment, but the context of their relationship was deeply problematic, given her age.
Defending Micklewright, lawyer Mr.
Oliver Woolhouse acknowledged that there was an element of grooming involved, but emphasized that the girl had sent the images without any invitation and had not reported the matter to police initially.
Woolhouse explained that Micklewright’s behavior was out of character, attributing his actions to a period of depression following his suspension from work.
He stated that Micklewright, who was a manager at a bookmaker branch, had been cleared of any wrongdoing related to missing money, which was later attributed to a banking error.
Woolhouse also highlighted that Micklewright was of previously good character and resided on Proffitt Street in Walsall.
He admitted to charges of sexual activity with a child under 16 and possession of indecent images.
The lawyer concluded by acknowledging the serious stigma attached to such offenses, noting that Micklewright would have to live with the consequences for the rest of his life.
Judge Amjad Nawaz sentenced Micklewright to four years in prison and imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
The order prohibits him from having unsupervised contact with girls under the age of 16.
In his remarks, the judge emphasized the significant age difference and the fact that Micklewright, as an adult, should have known better, especially given the girl’s young age.
The judge’s decision underscores the gravity of the offense and the importance of protecting minors from exploitation and harm.
