Lewes Child Sexual Abuser
A young man from Lewes has been sentenced to three years in prison after being found guilty of serious sexual offences involving a girl under the age of 16. Timothy Dumbrell, aged 21, exploited his position as a youth worker to manipulate and groom the young victim over an extended period. The court heard that Dumbrell engaged in a pattern of grooming behavior, which included encouraging the girl to participate in sexual activities both online and in person during the years 2013 and 2014.

Despite concerns raised by the victim’s family about his behavior, Dumbrell continued his abusive actions, showing a blatant disregard for their warnings and the well-being of the girl. The case came to light after the victim reported the abuse, which involved online grooming tactics as well as physical contact, leading to his conviction.

As part of his sentence, Dumbrell will be required to register on the sex offenders register for life, reflecting the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community. The court’s decision underscores the importance of safeguarding vulnerable young individuals from exploitation and highlights the need for vigilance among those in positions of trust.
