THOMAS THOMPSON SHOCKING SEXUAL OFFENSES IN BLACKPOOL AND LANCASHIRE
In a significant legal development, Thomas Thompson, a 55-year-old man from Blackpool, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison following convictions related to sexual misconduct involving two underage girls.His case also involved multiple violations of a court-imposed Sexual Harm Prevention Order, highlighting serious breaches of legal restrictions meant to protect the community.
The police in Blackpool first became aware of Thompson’s activities in October 2022.
It was reported that he was working informally in the resort area as both a security officer and a steward, roles that brought him into proximity with vulnerable individuals, including minors.
As a registered sex offender, Thomas Thompson was legally required to inform law enforcement authorities about his employment and any changes in his personal circumstances.
However, during their investigation, officers uncovered that Thompson had repeatedly lied to police officials.
He falsely claimed he was not employed and concealed the fact that he was engaged in an intimate relationship—disclosures that were critical given his status as a convicted sex offender.
Further probing into Thompson’s conduct revealed troubling interactions with teenage girls.
Authorities established that he had invited these young victims into his residence under the guise of helping them, initially presenting himself as a benevolent figure.
Such manipulative tactics are often employed by offenders to gain the trust of minors and exploit their vulnerability.
Following the investigation, Thompson attempted to evade law enforcement by leaving Blackpool and traveling to West Yorkshire.
His attempt to escape justice was short-lived, as police apprehended him in October 2022.
Subsequently, he was placed in custody to await sentencing.
During his court proceedings at Preston Crown Court, Thompson, who resides on Ashton Road in Blackpool, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault involving girls under the age of 18.
Additionally, he admitted to violating his Sexual Harm Prevention Order on five separate occasions, which reinforced the severity of his breaches and misconduct.
Detective Constable Jason Wainwright of Blackpool Police commented on the case, emphasizing the significance of the community’s role in protecting victims and ensuring justice.
He stated, “Thompson had only been living in the community since 2019.
Over a period of time, he lied to the police and breached the order which was in place.
I would like to commend the bravery of the young girls involved in this investigation.
It is important that vulnerable victims are aware of the support which the police and the court system provide.
This includes regular contact from the officer handling the case throughout the investigation and up until the sentencing process.”
