Bromsgrove Sexual Abuser
In July 2015, a man from Bromsgrove named Thomas Newell was sentenced after his involvement in a home burglary and the distribution of extreme child sexual abuse images.

Thomas Newell, residing on Burcot Lane in Bromsgrove, pleaded guilty at Worcester Crown Court to charges including burglary and the distribution of indecent images. The court heard that Newell had broken into the residence of Adrian Frost, who had previously supported him, and stole property valued at approximately £13,000 from Mr. Frost’s home on Peachfield Road, Malvern.

Judge Robert Juckes QC commented that Newell had mental health issues despite having family support and stated, “He had distributed the indecent pornography with the intention to shock.” The judge emphasized the betrayal of trust, noting that Newell had been helped in the past by Mr. Frost before repaying him through the burglary, which “completely destroyed Mr. Frost’s faith in human nature.”

For the offences, Newell received a two-and-a-half-year sentence to be served in a Young Offenders Institution, with the sentences for the two crimes being served concurrently. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for an indefinite period and will be on licence upon release.
